The Artistic Heart of Pillows Hotels

Our hotel art collections feature a blend of historical works and contemporary pieces, all carefully selected or specially commissioned for our hotels. Art at Maurits at the Park, Amsterdam

The Remarkable Art Collection at Pillows Hotel Maurits at the Park

At Pillows Hotel Maurits at the Park, located in the heart of Amsterdam-East, a special collection of art is on display. This hotel is more than just a location; it holds deep significance for the owner, Alex Mulder, and his family. Alex, the owner of Pillows Hotels and the driving force behind the art in all our hotels, grew up in this very neighborhood. As a child, he often played in the area, and in 2022, he repurposed the university building into a hotel for everyone, a place where art takes center stage.

Here are some of the artworks you can admire at Pillows Hotel Maurits at the Park:

At the Park, Raphaël Hermans

“At the Park” by Raphaël Hermans
For the opening of Pillows Maurits at the Park, Raphaël Hermans (Maastricht, 1974) created a series of artworks where the park and Amsterdam take center stage. Raphaël drew inspiration from the trees, birds, music, water, and flowers. These artworks are released in a limited edition of 120, each signed by the artist. The "At the Park" pieces adorn every room in the hotel, with the entire collection showcased at the hotel entrance.

The artworks at Pillows Hotel Maurits at the Park in Amsterdam-East are particularly special because Alex Mulder grew up in this district; in fact, part of his private collection is displayed on the walls here. This includes a aquatint by Pablo Picasso in Fitz’s Bar and a collection of minimalist works by Gustav Klimt in The Living.
