There was so much excitement about packing our bags – and yes, my boyfriend’s too – for a night at Pillows Grand Boutique Hotel Maurits at the Park in Amsterdam. Mainly because I have been a fan of Pillows for years. After one stay, you will also understand why you don't want to stay anywhere else.

There was also a special reason I wanted to stay here: I’ve seen the transformation of this building up close. When I lived behind Oosterpark, I saw how the former building was slowly turned into a Pillows Hotel. Nothing could have prepared me for how impressive and refined this place would ultimately become. It truly felt like a privilege to stay here, in this stunning building.

Pillows Maurits at the Park feels like a world of its own, where luxury and comfort come together in an enchanting, festive atmosphere. From the moment you step inside, everything radiates perfection. Every detail is spot on. The decor is meticulously designed, but what makes the stay here truly unique is the exceptional service. The team, many of whom have worked together since the opening two years ago, exudes hospitality. It doesn’t feel stiff or formal, but rather warm and personal, as if truly anything is possible. I can assure you: it really is. My boyfriend and I were on the edge of our seats, listening to concierge Joeki (the epitome of hospitality and a member of Les Clefs d'Or), who shared all the possibilities this place offers – from organizing a marriage proposal to hosting corporate events.

We stayed in a Junior Suite with views of both the garden and the impressive building itself. It’s almost unbelievable that this spot in Amsterdam remained unused for so long. Not only the location and architecture impress, but also the interior. The original character has been preserved in full and tastefully complemented with refined details. The authentic tiles, the corridors, the stairs, and the entrance: everything is perfect. It’s a place you must see with your own eyes.

Pillows in Christmas Spirit

During our stay, the hotel was cloaked in the magic of Christmas. Everywhere, Christmas trees twinkled with glass ornaments and cozy lights. The garden was beautifully decorated, radiating a winter fairytale world. This is the luxury and warmth so characteristic of Pillows. Here, you truly celebrate Christmas in a way that stays with you.

VanOost Restaurant

It would be a shame to leave the hotel without experiencing the culinary gem that Pillows houses. We dined at VanOost Restaurant, where chef Floris van Straalen amazed us with a phenomenal 8-course menu. A special start to the evening: the amuses and first drink were served in an intimate corner of the restaurant

Each course was carefully crafted, with the chefs tailoring the dishes to your personal preferences. VanOost Restaurant is not only a must-visit for hotel guests but also for anyone looking for a culinary night out in Amsterdam, especially during Christmas.
